Janne Ahonen wins on his home soil for the second time in a row!

After the second competition of the new World Cup circuit, one thing is sure: anyone who has decided to stop Janne Ahonen from winning the second World Cup title will have a very difficult task. In spite of very unfavourable weather conditions and the minus- 14- degree temperature he made two jumps of 143 metres.

Austria's Thomas Morgenstern who was the victim of the breathtaking fall on the same hill last season, took the 2nd place, ahead of the Czech Jakub Janda, a jumper whose shape seems to get better and better...

The two jumps of Janne Ahonen varied only in style- in the second round, the Finn took advantage of his overwhelming lead and decided to fight for the distance instead of the approval and style points from the judges. He missed his telemark but managed to save the landing as well as to finish on the top step for the second time. Thomas Morgenstern seemed to forget about the crash he had suffered last year and impressed everybody with his two jumps of 135,5 and 133,5 m, which gave him the second place. Jakub Janda, who had jumped 129 m in the first round, made the second best jump of the second leg (137,3 m) and completed the podium in third.

The results made by ski jumpers from the Polish team weren't better than during the Saturday's competition. Mateusz Rutkowski didn't manage to enter the top 30 after a disastrous jump of 93,5 m. Adam Malysz jumped 114 m in the first round and took 24. place, but moved to the 19. place after his second jump (119,5 m). It seems that the good shape our champion had during the Summer Grand Prix has ebbed away and the greatest worry of our coaches is the answer for the question: how get it back?
