Adam Małysz makes home double

After two perfect jumps of 132 metres, Adam Małysz won the second World Cup competition in Zakopane and made it an impressive home double. Janne Ahonen finished second, while the "co-winner" of the Saturday event, Roar Ljoekelsoey, took 3rd place.

Małysz took the lead already in the first round, after a huge effort of 132 metres. Janne Ahonen's 128,5 metres was not enough to threaten the Pole- his effort saw him in second place, ahead of Roar Ljoekelsoey (127,5 metres). In the second round, both Ljoekelsoey and Ahonen made impressive jumps but their 131,5 and 132 metres didn't let them improve their positions. With the advantage Małysz had over his rivals after the first leg, his second attempt seemed a formality. But the Pole floated once again 132 metres and won with 278.2 points in total, much to the delight of thousands of spectators gathered in the stadium.

It was also a good day for Germany's Michael Uhrmann and Norway's Lars Bystoel- after very good performances, they finished respectively in 4th and 5th place. However, the 9th place on Sunday for Jakub Janda made him lose his second position in the World Cup standings in favour of Adam Małysz.

Once again, Robert Mateja was the only Pole (except Adam Małysz) who entered the final round. He finished in 25th place, with two efforts of 112 and 116,5 metres.
