Both with a note of 268,9 points, the home hero Adam Małysz and Roar Ljoekelsoey won the night event in Zakopane. Finland's Risto Jussilainen was third ahead of the best Finn in the World Cup standings, Janne Ahonen.

In the first round, Roar Ljoekelsoey took the lead after a jump of 130 metres. Adam Małysz jumped 129,5 metres and was second with a slight advantage of 0.1 point over Risto Jussilainen. But in the second leg, Adam Małysz made a huge effort of 131 metres, which turned out to be 3 metres further than the second attempt of the Norwegian. For a few seconds no one was sure who had won. Then the final results flashed on the big streen, announcing the win of both Ljoekelsoey and Małysz.

The performance of the Czech Republic National Champion, Jakub Janda, was quite disappointing. After his first attempt (120,5 metres), the vice-leader of the WC standings took 15th place. He didn't do much better in the second round: he jumped 122 metres, which saw him in 11th place.

Only two Poles out of 7 managed to enter the top 30 of the competition. Robert Mateja finished in 24th position (115,5 and 118,5 metres), while Mateusz Rutkowski took 32th place, losing only 0,7 points to the last competitor who entered the final round.
